Sherri McKee is a writer, poet, series and collage artist, whose work has been featured in small publications and magazines. She originated the zine SHEMOM, featuring short writing, fiction and poetry about all things family, is the creator of a fine art Tarot deck, as represented in the Encyclopedia of Tarot, and a chapbook of fragmented poetry based on translations of the ancient poet Sappho.
McKee studied art, writing, and teaching at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS and received her MA and PhD in English and American Literature from University of California, San Diego. There, along with her teaching, she specialized in the work of 20th century American poets along with the contemporary school of Language poets.
After discovering a passion for color and making those colors come alive in textiles, Sherri studied fabric- dyeing techniques with many of the most renowned teachers available. Presently her work focuses on textile dyeing, appliqué, rug hooking, and mixed media collage based on traditional and contemporary uses of resist dyeing and discharge, and quilting.
The studio is located in downtown Oceanside, CA.
